![]() Your experience will begin with a visit to Endeavor: The California Story, a companion exhibit introducing Endeavor and its relationship to California. The space shuttle Endeavour makes its final journey to the California Science Center in Los Angeles, marking the end of NASA’s shuttle. Outside the Samuel Oschin Pavilion visitors can see a giant orange External Tank, also known at ET-94, designed to carry propellants and serve as the structural support for the whole shuttle stack with attachment points for the Orbiter and Solid Rocket Boosters. There's also a handful of video screens running short films specifically covering Endeavour and its missions. There are information/photo panels highlighting each and every single shuttle mission from 1981 to 2011. The space shuttle Endeavour became the latest star to call Los Angeles home when the California Science Center was selected by NASA to be the permanent home for Endeavour. In addition, the entire perimeter of the building interior is lined with displays. On the floor directly beneath the shuttle are two circular banks of information panels with plenty of photos and info about the craft. Inside, Endeavour is mounted high above the floor in a horizontal flight position. The California Science Center at Exposition Park is home to the Space Shuttle Endeavour, at 700 Exposition Drive, Los Angeles. After you finish the introductory gallery, you're directed downstairs and out the museum's back door to the Samuel Oschin Pavilion, the huge, airplane hangar-like building that is the temporary home of Endeavour. See the Space Shuttle Endeavour up close at Exposition Park in L.A. ![]() There's also the original, actual Rocketdyne Operations Support Center, a mission control-type setup that was once at Rocketdyne headquarters in Canoga Park, Calif. A small glass case displays some cool shuttle memorabilia (mission patches, photos, personal astronaut artifacts, etc.). As for actual shuttle items, there is the orbiter's landing gear assembly (you're invited to touch the tires), the nose cone, a space toilet complete with entertaining video, and a portion of the shuttle's kitchen/galley accompanied by a video about eating in space. All of the shuttles were largely built in California, so first off you peruse information panels and video displays telling the story of Endeavour's California birth.
