The building system along with the physics is pretty much the only real reason I play Planet Nomads.ĭeveloping games is TOUGH. Planet Nomads without the physics would be a completely different game, I cannot even think about what it could have been without physics. Go back in time, have a lucky guess picking a different engine / architecture / whatever that would have played nicer with their plans for the game (physics-wise) and now we would have Multiplayer Physics Based Planet Nomads probably. The way I read it, it talks about the unforeseen problems they had with physics and the need to fix / workaround such problems, not about the use of physics as a feature of the game. We're just pushing the engine behind it's designed limits. But no one have predicted that there will be so much issues with something that was supposed to work out of the box. They knew the game will not bring much income. What will happen next? They have no money, else developers wouldn't have left the company even one month before release. As 501idni admitted in the end, without physics they could have made a better game. They should have dropped the physics instead of the multiplayer, to make a commercially viable game. ![]() I saw that in Atlas, which had the worst possible launch but streamers were still pulling people into their worlds, to build, sail ships and explore islands together.Ĭraneballs dropped the multiplayer in summer 2017 because the game has physics. There are players who stream on twitch and they often create servers for their patreons who gladly buy the games just to play with their favorite streamer. Journey of Life, a building game made made by 2-3 developers got more players since they have dedicated servers. Ark survival wouldn't have sold so many copies without multiplayer.
